THURSDAY THOUGHTS
Some inane and insignificant thoughts for a Thursday,
First, Survivor - have you been listening to Jonathon wondering who he reminds you of? It's not the looks, it's the voice...close your eyes and who do you hear.....Alan Alda....I think so anyway.
Grey's Anatomy - saw Episode 2 tonight just like the network gods intended me to. It is such a good show...I think Bailey is fabulous, have from the first episode. I also hope we see more of Callie this season. She was on the View the other morning as a guest host with them. She would make a great addition to their team....please, if those same network gods are listening to me (and they certainly should..lol!!), replace Elizabeth with her. She was quite funny for the few words she was able to squeeze in.
Six Degrees - loving this new show! Campbell Scott (the photographer) looked so familiar last week when I saw him and it took me until the middle of tonight's show to figure out where I've seen him (can't believe I didn't Google him before now!). He was in a movie that I absolutely loved called "Singles". I used to work in a video store and I would quite often put that movie on when I was working. Haven't watched it in years, probably wouldn't even like it now....gonna have to try and dig it up sometime.
Remember:
It is only possible to live happily ever after on a day to day basis.
Until tomorrow.....

THE APPLE OF MY EYE
I am so excited I can't stand it!! I have FINALLY been dragged into the twenty-first century. I am posting this from my brand spanking new MacBook...so exciting..for me, anyway. So far it's fabulous...you open it up and I swear...a blue light shines up to the heavens and a chorus of angels sing Hallelujah!!! Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little.
So far, in the last 2 days I've gotten my internet hooked up...high speed no less, yes, I've been on dialup until now, my Macmail is good to go, I've added goodies to my blog and as I'm typing this I'm listening to my new Library of tunes I downloaded tonight. Yipppeeee!!!
I've added a map to my blog so I can see where people are visiting from (since I'm sure it's world-renowned by now, isn't it? lol!!!) and I also added a Google search because as my friends know (or should know), I am the GOOGLE QUEEN, self-designated but that's ok. I love Googling, just mention people, shows, words...whatever, it doesn't matter...I'll find out whatever it is you want to know...and even what you don't!
ITUNES....so cool...ok, tonight I really don't have much of a library..it's more like a small rack at the front of the store. Here are my first 4 tunes:
Mobile - Out of My Head
KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See (love this song...from Devil Wears Prada..great chick flick by the way)
Goo Goo Dolls - Stay With You
Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars (from a video montage of Grey's Anatomy that's going around the web...fabulous!)
Now my dear friends (or even stranger friends), please send me a couple of your favourites so I can add them to my collection...otherwise any time anyone spends with me and my new Mac (yes, we will be inseparable) will be spent listening to these 4 songs over and over. Actually I'd just love to know what everyone's listening to these days.
Yes, I will also be entering the world of the IPodNano. I have it, I just couldn't get that going as well tonight. I'm already on information overload. I tried to put a thumbnail picture of one of the groups album covers but all that kept coming into my blog was the HTML text so if anyone can help me.....please do...don't know what I did wrong. Anyway, I'm giving up for tonight...it's very late...and I've listened to these same 4 songs about 10 ten times now!!! Good night all!!

SEASON PREMIERE WEEK
Well, it's almost midnight on the Friday of one of my favourite weeks - Season Premiere week...actually, this year was a bonus with one of my favourites, Prison Break, starting in August!! Yes, I confess, I truly am a TV junkie. I know, it's not something I should be proud of but hey, there's a lot worse things I could be addicted to (like McDonald's or Diet Coke...somewhat harmless but potentially life threatening). I admit, I love my kids dearly but I'm very grateful that they go to bed at 8:00 and if I don't have plans to do something else, I love knowing that I have the rest of the evening to relax and regenerate in front of the "idiot box". Trust me though, it's not like I'm just sitting there doing nothing. It's amazing how much you can get done during commercials...laundry, cleaning, paperwork, reading (that one book I've been trying to get through for what seems like months!). I've recently even accelerated my ability to multi-task by getting my husband to hook up our dish and a TV in my office. I'm hoping to get even more done now...maybe even some scrapbooking again!! I can tell winter's coming. I'm getting that cocooning/hibernating urge. I'm just going to hide away in my office and not come out again until spring.
As usual, I've gotten away from the purpose of my post...the fabulous new fall season of shows. First I'll list my top 5 shows from last year. These are the ones I just couldn't miss, not in any particular order: 1) Grey's Anatomy 2) Bones 3) Numbers 4) Prison Break and 5) What About Brian (mid-season add-in...loved it!!)
Ok, I probably should have done Top 10 because I also really like Amazing Race, Survivor, Medium, 24 and Desperate Housewives. Some of you are probably wondering how a TV-watching expert like myself could have a list like that and not include House and Lost...nope, never watched them...c'mon now, I can't watch everything. lol!!!
Now as far as the new shows this fall, I'm going to try to help you pick the good and weed out the bad so you don't waste any of your precious time. Ok, I have to admit I'm just winging this a bit since I haven't watched all the new shows but I'll just give you my opinion based on what I've seen or read about them.
Not to be missed: Studio 60, Vanished, Men In Trees and 6 Degrees. I watched 6 Degrees last night and thought it was great...it got great reviews today too. Two that haven't started yet that I'm looking forward to are The Nine and Brothers and Sisters.
There are a few shows getting good reviews but I'm not watching...I just can't fit any more in. There's Shark, Smith, Kidnapped, and Jericho. The one new comedy that looks pretty good is The Class. It's from the people that did Friends and Mad About You...two of my old time favourites.
So there you have it, sit down and relax and watch a mindless hour of TV every now and then. What could possibly happen...it's not like you'll develop some strange habit like repeating yourself over and over. But I have heard watching too much TV causes people to repeat themselves over and over. lol!!!!! It's my giddy hour, I'm cracking myself up!!!!!!
Have a great weekend!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Yes, you read it right...Happy New Year! No, I haven't gone completely crazy...I know, my very dear friends are probably thinking...ha, it finally happened!
No, I'm fine..let me explain. Generally, I do not enjoy the traditional New Year's Eve and New Year's day holidays. I find this time of year a let down...the worst of winter is just getting started, Christmas (my absolute favourite holiday) has come and gone, you realize another year has gone by and reflect on what you may or may not have accomplished and then to top it off you're supposed to make some ridiculous lifestyle change (otherwise known as a "resolution"), usually something you've enjoyed up to this point.
My resolution this past January involved more of a personality change...trying to be less Type A, less anal, that sort of thing. Ask my friends how that's worked out for me. I'm pretty sure they don't think I've been very successful. lol!!
Anway, my original point was going to be that I love Fall and to me September always seems like a time for new beginnings...so I've decided that it's going to be my New Year.
One of the biggest things about September of course, is summer's over and it's time for school. I used to love getting ready to go back to school and now both my kids are school age and I get to see it through their eyes...the excitement and anticipation, a little fear of the unknown.
Probably the second biggest thing about September, for a junkie like myself, is the start of the new TV Schedule. I soooo look forward to this time of year, all my favourite shows return and usually some decent ones start, but that's a whole other post in the very near future.
I also find September seems to be a time to get back into old routines...you know, the gym membership you barely use in the summer, the unattainable weight loss goals we're always trying to reach...or start new ones, like a blog perhaps or taking a course, scrapbooking for example, to learn a fabulous new technique (that we'll never try again, right Sheri?). lol!!!
Enough rambling...Happy New Year to you all and may you find peace and happiness in everything you do!!
I know....crazy!!!!!!
DID YOU KNOW?....
This is also a great time of year if you happen to be touring around Germany, particularly Munich (or Munchen as some say). The Oktoberfest celebrations began over there on September 16 and go right through to the first week of October...then we start celebrating here!!
To all our friends in Germany...frieden, liebe und beifall!!!

TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL
My girlfriend, Marianne, and I have been talking about going to the Festival for years now and it just never worked out...until now....we fiiiinally went!!! For a celebrity stalker wannabe like myself, let me just say....IT WAS HEAVEN! It was sooo exciting and we had such a good time. It was everything I hoped for and more...the red carpet, the stalkarazzi, the limos, the crazy people behind barricades standing across the street from the theatre screaming the stars' names...AND I ACTUALLY SAW CELEBS...A-LIST ONES EVEN!!
We had tickets to see the movie "Bobby" (when I learn how to set up links I'll link you to it) at Roy Thomson Hall last night at 6:30. When we lined up we were right along the wall of the Hall and there were large windows with wide ledges so of course I stood up there trying to get glimpses of people as they pulled up just ahead of us and got out of the limos. The first person I see get out and "work the crowd" is Christian Slater (I think my screaming out "OMG it's Christian Slater" may have embarrassed Marianne just a little.), then Emilio Estevez a few minutes later. I didn't get pictures of Emilio outside, the line started moving, we had to go in.
Christian Slater
We then found a great vantage point to see them as they came in to the theatre and we didn't move until the last person was in and the movie was ready to start. We weren't right at the front by any means so let me just say how grateful I am for being tall, having long arms and the swivel screen on my camera was a dream! We ended up also seeing Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, William H. Macy, Nick Cannon, Joshua Jackson and Sharon Stone....amazing, so much fun!!!
Emilio was the writer and director of the movie so he introduced everyone and we didn't realize it until after but they all sat and watched the movie. They were seated almost below us. The movie was excellent (should be for 40 bucks eh Mare?).
Demi Moore and Nick Cannon
Sharon Stone, William H. Macy and Christian Slater
After our movie finished a Sandra Bullock one was supposed to start at 9:30 so we tried to hang out to see more people come in for that one but we finally got caught and had to leave. We then became part of the crazy people across the street and saw Sandra Bullock and Sigourney Weaver. What a blast...we certainly learned a lot last night about how the festival works. We are so ready for next year!!!
Sandra Bullock
The back of Sigourney Weaver (best I could do!)
(Please excuse how blurry the pictures are..new camera...celebrities...oh, the pressure!!!)

SO MUCH TO BLOG..SO LITTLE TIME!!!
BOO-YA Baby...and a big HELL YEA!! Good for you, Lukas! Another Canadian dude wins it. I do have mixed feelings about him winning, though. I thought right from the start he was the one to beat, with him and Dilana in the final two and then I really started to enjoy Toby. Honestly though, I don't know if I would enjoy any of them for two solid hours. I would have loved to have seen a tour with the top 3 or 4 all singing. I do like their first song..Be Yourself...I think it's great.
Well today was my baby boy's first day of Junior Kindergarten...boo hoo...ok, I know he's four and he'll be fine but he just seems soooooo little. Last night he decided what he wanted to wear and got his new Diego backpack and lunchpail ready. When he was going to bed I asked him what he was going to take for snack...he just kept saying "I don't know yet". I told him he needed to decide...he looked up at me and calmly said "I'm going to dream about it"..and went to bed. He never ceases to amaze me.
I had to take him and pick him up today..he looked so forlorn as he gave me this sad little wave when I left. He's so shy with people at first compared to how his sister was then. Of course, when I picked him up, he'd had a great morning and he's ready for the bus tomorrow. He was excited to find out that one of his friends from daycare was in his class but he was still a little concerned that he didn't know any of the other kids. I know, I know, he'll be fine...one day down, about 2000 to go until high school!!
SURVIVOR NIGHT....I can't wait!! I can't believe all the hoopla about the teams being split by race. I think I was more offended last time when they split them by men and women, young and old. I was really offended when I realized I would have been on the old team!! I just hope that everyone who thinks it's a terrible idea at least watches it before they continue to judge it.
Anyway, must run, I'm off to the Film Festival tonight...a little hobnobbing with Emilio and Christian I hope...I'll let you know how it was tomorrow.
In the meantime, grab your torches and head back to camp!!!!!

FINALLY...
Well, finally, I can officially call myself a blogger! My highly anticipated blog is up and running...now that's funny...I guess I think the few people that will actually read this once and awhile will really be looking forward to it. I must say though, Holly, I've been feeling the pressure from you to get going. lol!!
I'm sure it will become apparent quite quickly that rants and rambles is an appropriate name...actually there probably won't be a lot of ranting...definitely a lot of rambling and not necessarily any rhyme or reason for anything (today's blog has been brought to you by the letter R!).
I'll do my best to keep things interesting but the main reason I'm starting this is to just keep track of the everyday things in my life...as mundane or exciting as they may be. So sit back, relax, visit often and enjoy!
THE BURNING TV QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Will Toby or Lukas become the new member of Supernova???
I'm pretty sure it will be one of these 2, just not sure anymore which one.
