CANCER SUCKS!
I hate cancer, everything about it, even the word itself. If you've never been touched by it, either yourself or someone you know, then you are extremely lucky.
My cousin Sandy has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Yes, THAT Sandy...quirky, lovable Sandy! She is scheduled for surgery tomorrow and I was hoping that all my wonderful readers might have a spare moment for a small prayer or for the non-religious maybe just a positive thought. I'd truly appreciate it, and I'm sure she would as well.
Sandy being who she is though, has started a blog and let me tell you there's no self-pity or wallowing. It's true Sandy style. She started it to keep family and friends informed without having to explain things over and over but it's certainly not just about cancer. It's about this, that and the other thing...all with her amazing sense of humour! Wait until you see what she's called it. If you'd like to have a look, click here.
She's even been trying to use this diagnosis to her advantage...calling herself "cancergirl" and guilting her family into doing things for her...as they should anyway, being the princess that she is...lol!! Love you San!!!

A MOVIE AND A MADMAN
My friend Paula and I went to see Michael Clayton last weekend. I have to say I really do enjoy George Clooney, no matter what...even in this very...slow...movie. I can almost guarantee it will win awards, well, George should anyway. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad movie, not at all, but I would have been quite happy to just rent it sometime in the future.
Maybe the fact I didn't enjoy it all that much had something to do with the very friendly but distracting gentleman I ended up sitting beside. I don't have a problem with people going to movies by themselves but could they not then try to become best friends with their seat neighbours! One of the trailers we saw was for a movie coming out called The Bucket List. It's with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman and how they want to get things done from their "before I kick the bucket list". Well, my neighbour, between loud guffaws, informed me that he had crossed many things off his list, including skydiving, seeing the Great Wall, the pyramids...and on and on. "Wow", "really" I said, "fascinating" I lied...at the same time giving Paula the "next time I get the aisle seat and you can sit by the chatty man" look!
Wait, it gets better! They show the "turn off cell phones" message, he pulls his Blueberry out, and I THOUGHT he turned it off. But I think he just turned it to vibrate because part way into the movie it starts buzzing...not just once...he fiddles with it but 10 minutes later, same thing. Oh, and he commentates through the movie as well. The buzzing then becomes more like a ring, more fiddling and THEN I hear a voice calling him through the damn thing. FINALLY after about what seemed like a half hour, he got up and left...thank you kind sir (ok, "madman" in my title might have been a little strong)!
We also saw trailers for two chick flicks coming out later this year that look soooo good!
One is called 27 Dresses with Katherine Heigl. She's been a bridesmaid 27 times and now has to do it again but this time it's for her sister who's marrying a man that Katherine's character is secretly in love with.
The other is called P.S. I Love You. It's with Hillary Swank and I'm not going to tell you what it's about. I'm just going to say it looks amazing and I know I'm going to cry when I watch it!
Has anyone seen anything really good lately?

THE LAST OF THE LONG WEEKENDS!
Well, another long weekend has come and gone...Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone!
Friday night Marianne, Marlene and I went out for our annual "giving thanks for our friendship" dinner. As always we had a great time. We even went somewhere new...which for "blah eater me" is a real feat! We went to Moxie's in Mississauga. It was fabulous...the food, the atmosphere..really nice. Even the washroom was amazing! Marianne came back and said we HAD to go see it. We did...and took pictures! We heard the men's washroom had TV's above each "spot" but I can't say for sure...we got caught trying to peek in...oops!
Saturday afternoon my brother and I took his daughter and Jesse to the Rockton Fair (Emily had a birthday party). A few rides, a few games, some cotton candy and they had a great time! The weather even cooperated after that crazy storm we had in the morning.
Saturday night I took Emily to see The Game Plan. We both LOVED this movie! Emily even said it's one of her favourites. Has anyone else seen it...what did you think?
Sunday we had Thanksgiving at my mom's where I ate waaaaay too much....turkey, mashies, gravy...yummy!!!
Monday my girlfriend Kathy and her kids went with us to the Oktoberfest parade. It really is a great parade but this year it seemed exceptionally long. Even the kids were getting bored...they actually asked to leave! We certainly couldn't have asked for a nicer day though. I don't remember the last time it was so warm you could wear shorts and t-shirts on October 8!
That's it now..no more long weekends in 2007! Here comes Christmas...yippee!!!
