A MONTH OF MOVIES
I somehow managed to see quite a few movies in January and they were all very good.
First my girlfriend Janet and I took our kids to see Charlotte's Web. Yes, Jesse decided to go and he even sat through the whole thing!! It was a little touch and go the last few minutes but we made it!
Then my sister-in-law Cindy and I saw The Holiday...great chick flick! Jude Law is really quite captivating...never really noticed before...how have I missed that?
Then Emily and I went to see Arthur and the Invisibles. I had no expectations going in...all I knew was that the critics didn't really care for it (which doesn't usually mean too much). I had no idea there were so many celebrities involved with this...Madonna, Emilio Estevez, Robert DeNiro, David Bowie. It turned out to be very entertaining and it was perfect for Emily's age.
This past Saturday Cindy and I saw Catch and Release with Jennifer Garner...another great chick flick! All through the movie though it was driving me crazy..where had I seen the main male character before?? I finally had to google his name, Timothy Olyphant, I just couldn't place him. Turns out he's the guy who played one of the main characters in one of my favourite shows (which noone else I know has ever watched!), Deadwood!! Let's just say he looks a lot different when he's not in his wild west sheriff's gear. You will enjoy him in this movie...even more if you saw him in Deadwood and realized ahead of time who he was.
The previous weekend Emily and I saw Night At The Museum. I was afraid it was going to be scary for her but a few people had seen it and said it would be fine. We both enjoyed it...Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson crack me up!!!
If you're ever wondering about a kid's movie...what it's about, what age group it's best for...I have a website I like to refer to. It's www.nickjr.com. Then you go to the Parenting section and then Flicks for Kids. Obviously you still have to use your own judgment..only you know what your kids can handle but I've found it to be quite helpful before.
Can't wait for February and March movies, saw some interesting trailers recently (I love watching trailers!). Happy viewing!!

WHAT A WAY TO START THE NEW YEAR!!
New Year's Day I went to the Leafs Game with my brother, hoping, and actually expecting, to see my beloved Bruins anihilate the Leafs. I must say I love hockey but during regular season I really don't watch many, if any, games on TV and I knew the Bruins were doing terrible this year but I also knew Toronto was doing worse and Boston has a great record against them. Well, lets just say it was extremely embarassing to be a Bruins fan that night. They lost 5-1 and made the Leafs look great! I should know better, I think I'm bad luck for the Bruins, looking back I think they always lose when I go to see them.
Tom was also kind enough to remind me of a game we went to years ago. There was him, my boyfriend at the time and another friend of ours that went to see the Leafs and Bruins. Of course, as always, I was the only Bruins fan and I made it known early on that I was and got louder and louder I'm sure as the score kept getting better...after the second I think it was 6-2 for Boston. We were joking how the Leafs would need a goal every 5 minutes in the third to tie it....yes, you guessed it, they came back and tied it and to add insult to injury...they won in overtime!!! Probably one of the most exciting games I've been to but a terrible ending for me.
As the years go by, I keep saying I wish I could root for another team but I just can't. I've been a Bruins fan since I was 7 years old thanks to Bobby Orr and always will be even though I may never see them win another Cup in my lifetime. Boo hoo!!!

THE END OF AN INTERESTING YEAR
Well, I'm finally going to finish my December recap of events...sorry folks, it won't be very entertaining but I need to get this done. I'm going to try to condense everything and keep it short and sweet. I know, lengthy and wordy are more my style.
CHRISTMAS - LOVE IT....my absolute favourite holiday!! I do my best to savour every moment of it but it still comes and goes far too quickly.
CHRISTMAS EVE -
HIGHLIGHT - Went to the in-laws and "Santa" visited! It's so funny, my father-in-law dresses up like Santa and both my kids are so sure that it's "Papa" but they won't say anything while he's there. They always wait until he leaves. They're absolutely mesmerized while he's there and handing out toys and it's almost like they don't want to ruin it...just in case!
LOWLIGHT - We got there before anyone else, Jesse's so excited and raring around, sits down beside me, says "I'm going to be sick" and proceeds to throw up all over me, himself and my mother-in-law's sofa! After that he was fine again.
CHRISTMAS DAY HIGHLIGHTS -
- Kids sleeping in until 8!
- Seeing how excited my kids get when they open something, their faces beaming and they say "it's just what I wanted!" and they even remember to say thank you.
- Spending the day relaxing and playing with the kids new stuff
- Going to my parents that night to stay over and of course Mom has made all our favourites for supper. My personal favourite..Hash Brown Casserole..yummy!!
- My sister-in-law and I playing against my husband and brother in a VERY competitive game of Catch Phrase and whoopin' their butts! Ok, we might have lost...convenient memory loss on my part. This game is a riot...highly recommend it if you're ever looking for a game for a group of people. I bought the electronic version (don't buy the board version).
BOXING DAY HIGHLIGHTS -
- Again, kids slept in!
- Grandma came to join us for the day and brought a batch of her world-famous homemade cinnamon buns!
- After the gift-opening frenzy, played games all afternoon...the adults that is...Scrabble, cards.
- Turkey dinner and all the fixings...one of my favourite meals.
LOWLIGHT - Grandma informed us that would be the last batch of cinnamon buns she would be making. I was totally surprised when she brought these, there is a lot of work to them. I don't know how she managed, especially with all the kneading you have to do. I have her secret recipe and a few years ago I got her to go through the whole process with me and yes, believe it or not, since then I made a batch all by myself and they were quite tasty!!
That night my husband, brother, sister-in-law, nephew and I went to the big city of Woodstock to go to a movie. We saw "We Are Marshall". It was very good. I can only imagine what that town went through after that plane crash...so heartbreaking.
The rest of the holidays were spent with me being sick one day (will spare you the details), the in-laws visiting, scrapping with friends (scrapbooking, not fighting!), our friends the Jones' visiting and the year ended with a quiet New Year's Eve at home.
Bring on 2007...I think I'm ready!!

ONE FOR THE MEN!
I didn't want to discriminate against any male readers that I may have so there you go gentlemen...this is it..the ONE AND ONLY TIME I will ever post female iCandy!! Enjoy!

I LOVE FRIDAY...TGFI!!
Yes, everyone is familiar with TGIF but I think it's time we changed things up a little ladies...TGFI...THANK GOD FOR iCandy!!! (notice my little play on the Mac term..iCandy..I know, it's not funny if you have to explain it!)
I thought I'd just throw this in for a Friday...nothing more than a little blatant ogling!! This one's for Marianne and Sheri, who for some strange reason don't watch Prison Break but have discovered the very handsome Dominic Purcell and find him quite enjoyable. Oh, silly me, how did Wentworth end up in that picture with him?? LOL!!!
Have a fabulous Friday everyone!!

ONLY FOR "MEN IN TREES" FANS
Well, feel free to go ahead and read this but I think only fans of the show will truly understand the enormity of this piece of totally blatant and shameless gossip.
I'm at the gym tonight ellipticalling (I'm sending that one to Mr. Webster for "word of the year"!), reading the captioning on Entertainment Tonight when this story comes up. Anne Heche has left her husband and James Tupper (McTreemy Jack) has left his wife and THEY ARE NOW AN ITEM!!!!! Then the really funny part...they're both saying this new relationship had nothing to do with their respective break-ups...those happened first! To that I say....HA...AND DOUBLE HA!!! I was so surprised I think if I'd been on the treadmill I would have flown right off the back!!
I don't know about you but I don't generally enjoy watching couples on screen when I know they're a couple off-screen. Perfect example...Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Brangelina)...ok, I have to admit I was a little curious to see them on screen together, and yes, I realize they're only acting, it's not real...but technically now it IS real when they're a couple. If I want to watch "couples" like that I can turn on the 600 channel block of my dish...ha, just kidding!!! I have no idea which channels on my dish show porn...but I do know there's a lot of them!!! LOL!!
I don't know why this whole thing surprised me so much...it's such typical Tinseltown crap..but I truly was shocked.
Thursday nights in Elmo will never be the same again...especially since Jack isn't with Marin anymore, he's back with his ex Lynn so how will Anne feel about that, probably as bad as Marin, but I'm sure James will say he's just acting with Justine who plays Lynn...did you get all that??

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO....
The Oscar nominations were announced today and there were a few surprises...well, at least this entertainment guru thinks so anyway! It's not even like I've seen all these movies but I still think I know what I'm talking about! LOL!!!
I was surprised these were not nominated:
Brad Pitt for Babel
Dreamgirls for Best Movie
Jack Nicholson for The Departed
I was thrilled to see Little Miss Sunshine nominated for Best Movie and the little girl in it, Abigail Breslin nominated in the Supporting Actress category.
I just watched this movie the other night and I loved it. I don't know whether it was because it was really late when I watched it or just the mood I was in but I thought it was hilarious...totally dysfunctional family and all!! It has a great message for parents about letting your kids be who they are and doing things their way. Great message for kids too, unfortunately kids can NOT watch this movie....lots of cursing and yelling. If anyone else has seen it please let me know what you thought of it.
I was also thrilled to see Mark Wahlberg nominated for The Departed. I thoroughly enjoy him!!
I'm going out on a limb here with my predictions:
Best Picture - The Queen (or Babel) I know, I'm waffling on this one.
Best Actor - Forest Whitaker
Best Actress - Helen Mirren
Best Supporting Actor - Eddie Murphy
Best Supporting Actress - Jennifer Hudson
OTHER ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:
I was sooooo excited when I heard they are FINALLY filming the next Indiana Jones and it will be out next year!! I LOVE those movies and figured if it hadn't happened by now it probably was never going to...especially considering Harrison is what...62 or something? I can't believe the first one came out in 1981 and the last one in 1989!!!
Have you been watching 24 and wondering where you saw Assad before? He played Dr. Bashir on Star Trek's Deep Space Nine series (or whatever it was called). Can you tell I'm not a trekkie...I always enjoyed the Star Trek movies but never really got into any of the TV series.
That's it for now....Live Long and Prosper!! (Spock say that? I don't know...did I just make that up??)

JACK VS. MICHAEL!
Things are heating up tonight...only 8 1/2 hours to go!!
I was going to put up one of those surveys like Holly did for McDreamy and McSteamy but realistically I know that Jack would have come out ahead simply because more people watch 24...and I know noone needs me to fill out a survey to find out my preference!
My dear friend Sheri says Jack would kick Michael's ass but I think it's time I pointed out that, sure, of course Jack could physically harm Michael....especially since he carries a gun or two!! What was Jack's total during the last bad day he had...something like 33 dead! Geesh, anyone can come out ahead with weapons and the entire CTU department behind them...but Michael Scofield doesn't need them. He doesn't need a gun...he just continues to use his brains and good looks to keep himself, his brother and the other cons out of trouble...all for the greater good of finding out the truth! (ok, this is where some very powerful background music would have been good!) Michael also doesn't have somebody like Chloe to help him out either. Have you noticed how much Jack depends on her? How many times have we heard him say "Dammit Chloe, I need that now"?? And Michael also doesn't have the phone that never dies or the "magic bag". Really, the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced Michael would come out ahead!!
I think it's time the two shows crossed over....bring it on, Jack Bauer!!!

OMG...JACK KILLED CURTIS!!!!!
Oh, I'm sorry, I hope I didn't ruin it for anyone....ha ha!!! Yes, I finally watched Monday's two hour 24 ex-tra-va-gan-za!!!
Ok, now that the good guys are shooting each other and there's been a nuclear explosion, what on earth are they going to do in future seasons??? Seriously, what is left? Jack's been tortured, his family seems to have disappeared, presidents either die or are impeached...all that's left is for Chloe to step up and run the country. Can you imagine, with that attitude and those facial expressions, terrorists would run for their lives. Seriously though, if they ever get rid of Chloe..I am done watching!
...and then there's Grey's. I am NEVER watching it again!!!! I had an awful day at work today so I was already in a bad mood, then I went to the gym which really does NOT make me happy. I'm not one of these people that LOVES going and HAS to go everyday or I miss it...I go because it's soooo good for me...HA! Anyway, then I watch Grey's and cry and cry and cry....every week it's the same thing. It was so sad tonight and my already pre-determined mood didn't help...made me even more emotional. Ok, I'm lying, I'm still going to watch that darn show...I love it!!!
Then I sat up to this late (or early, depending on how you look at it) hour fast forwarding through the Golden Globes which I still had taped. I really should have went to bed about two hours ago. I must say though, if you ever get the chance to see Hugh Laurie or Meryl Streep accept an award, that alone is worth suffering through the rest. They are hilarious! I've never seen Hugh Laurie in an interview but I have seen Meryl several times and she's always very entertaining.
Did I ever mention that my dream job involves the Globes? Ok, no laughing...my dream job...is to be a seat filler!!! The Globes would be my first pick but I'd gladly do it for any awards show. I would be in heaven!!!
WARNING: Next Monday's TV viewing could be hazardous to your health...an hour of "Bauer Power" and then, yes, ladies and gentlemen...THE "PRISON PACK" IS BACK!!! Wentworth and the Prison Break gang are FINALLY back...can you tell I'm excited?? It really is hard on my heart though and I don't mean just because of Wentworth! It's two hours of nail biting action...so please remain seated and keep your trays in their upright position. What???? I don't know, it's late, that's the best I could do.
Nighty night!!

WHAT A WEEK..AND IT'S ONLY WEDNESDAY!
I guess I'll just start with tonight and work backwards.
After work I decide to go to Michael's to return a couple things. I'm on my way home, zippin' down the 401, minding my own business and all of a sudden I see some ice come off a vehicle quite a ways in front of me (can you see where this is going?) and as if in slow motion this one enormous piece goes up, I mean way up, in fact so far up I had time to think about which way I should go...should I speed up, slow down, move left or right. Ok maybe I didn't have that much time because as it was coming down I realized it was probably going to land right on the windshield. I managed to move to the right just enough that it didn't hit the windshield but it still hit the van. This was not one of those thin pieces that shatter, it was a chunk. It hit with such a bang I figured something was going to be dented for sure....but no, no dent, instead, MY SIDE MIRROR HAS BEEN SHEARED OFF!! It doesn't fall off though, there it is hanging by a wire and banging up and down the side of the van! After cursing and wanting to cry I managed to find the humour in how ridiculous it must have looked flopping around. Then to top it off I realized as it was banging around, it was blinding other drivers when their lights reflected off of it....good grief!!
(Ok, that was the costly, the rest is just trivial.)
I get home just in time for my husband to leave for a meeting. He's made spaghetti and "cheesy breads" (as my kids call them) for the kids for supper. There's one cheesy bread left sitting on the stove so I scarf it down. Five minutes later Emily realizes they're all gone, even though she hasn't finished her first one (which is significant in this little story), and starts with a little whining and wailing. While this is going on, (remember how I made note of her not having finished the first one yet?) her first cheesy bread is sitting on a plate on the little table she was sitting at....and THE DOG EATS IT!!! Cue up more whining and wailing...good grief!!
The rest of the evening went much better until I started this post and decided to turn on American Idol while I type. Let me just say I don't normally watch this show. I used to watch the first few where they weed out the geeks and freaks but I don't normally even do that anymore...AND NOW I SEE WHY!!! OMG....Seattle has some of the strangest people I've ever seen!!! The girl with the white hair and her mother, Nick Zitzmann, and what the heck was up with that "girl" that sang like an angry man...again, I say...good grief! Actually Simon was on Oprah today and he said Seattle was the worst EVER!!! It really was very funny.
Now to Tuesday...everyone of course wanted to talk about 24 but I hadn't watched it yet. I did accidentally see the very end as I was switching channels and I saw Curtis bleeding. Then I see Jack crying and for some reason I had this crazy idea that maybe Jack had shot him. Nobody would tell me for sure, they didn't want to ruin it but lo and behold I go to my friend Sheri's blog and her newest post is about how Jack shot Curtis AND there was a nuclear explosion! The really funny part of this whole thing is that Sheri really doesn't blog that often and never so timely or up to date....UNTIL NOW!!!
Bet you can't wait to hear about Monday!
Black's was having a sale that if you got 100 digital prints processed you would get 100 free and the deal ended Sunday. So of course I was scrambling to get my pictures organized on Sunday because, naturally, I had to wait until the very last day of the sale, even though I've known about it for weeks. Anyway, I manage to get a couple CD's ready with a couple hundred pictures on them and I get there just before they close.
Here's where it gets good...Monday when I go to pick up my pictures there's a note on the packages saying "NO IMAGES ON CD". I hadn't burned them properly...they were blank!!! This story has a happy ending though because the girl working was nice enough to give me the vouchers anyway.
The final straw on Monday...Jesse had to do an "All About Me" poster for school and we needed a family picture for it. I decided we had to take a new one since the last one I could find was probably two years old. I announce that it's time to take some pictures (remember how popular I was for doing the Christmas shoot?) and Emily turns to me and says....."just Photoshop me in"!!!
Let's just say I'm looking forward to a relaxing and uneventful weekend!!!!

THOUGHTS FOR A THURSDAY
You know, I enjoy a good celebrity feud as much as the next person, but even I'm getting tired of the Rosie/Donald, now Rosie/Donald/Barbara one. I've always been a Rosie fan, even before her other TV show (which I loved!) and Donald, well, I've enjoyed the Apprentice up until the last couple, thought he was somewhat amusing but definitely arrogant. There's nobody that likes talking about Donald better than Donald! So in this feud it was very easy for me to pick a side, Rosie's of course. I happened to be watching the View the day she made her initial comments that started this and I thought they were right on...not to mention hilarious. Now, I just wish they would stop giving him the satisfaction of talking about him. It just gives him more publicity and more opportunities to rant. I honestly believe he enjoys it, it keeps him in the public eye and gives him more chances to promote the new Apprentice which just happened to start last Sunday. Hmmm...too bad, I think it backfired, his show did not fare well in the ratings after that first night.
Anyway, I was reading Rosie's blog the other day and she answers questions and posts comments from people. Of course many of the comments have been about the feud. Well, this one comment in particular just cracked me up (sorry if it's terribly offensive to anyone).
It said something about Donald and his asshat and I'm thinking what the heck is that???
Definition of asshat - someone with their head so far up their ass they can wear it as a hat! Sorry folks but I think it's hilarious and I'll bet you're all thinking of someone right now that fits that description...geez, I hope it's not me! LOL!!!
Ok, here are a couple other quotes, totally unrelated, that are much more lighthearted and I also found VERY funny!
At our age, swimming can be dangerous....lifeguards don't try as hard!
My greatest fear is that there is no PMS, that this is my personality. (This one's hitting a little too close to home!)
Have a great weekend!!!

AND THE WINNER IS...
It's very late and I'm tired but thought I'd throw this quick one in since I'm really feeling the pressure to blog lately! LOL!!
It's the beginning of the awards extravaganza shows...leading up to, of course, the Oscars! Tonight was the People's Choice Awards..by far the lamest of the lame. It should be one of the best considering it's the fans that choose the winners and it's the fans that keep the shows on the air and watch all their movies...and lately, I don't think that's such an easy task! Been to any movies lately where you come out and say to yourself "there's two hours of my life I can't get back"??
As usual, getting off topic...for the People's Choice Awards they tell the winners ahead of time so you know noone is truly surprised and if you pay close attention you won't be surprised either. You'll notice that only the winners show up so it was pretty easy to guess who was going to win...not very exciting!
I was happy to see Grey's win best TV Drama and it was nice to see how excited Patrick Dempsey was when he won. He even beat out Kiefer Sutherland. Sadly, Wentworth wasn't even nominated...shocking!!
NEWSFLASH: It must be true...Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn really have parted ways. They both won tonight and they were not sitting anywhere near each other. They did both compliment each other though in their speeches. What was wrong with Vince though...he looked like a zombie and his speech was very mellow, sad almost.
I also don't think Robin Williams' rehab stint was a big success...actually I don't think he was on anything, just acting very bizarre. I know, he always does but he wasn't even remotely funny tonight when he made his speech. I've never really enjoyed his little tirades when he's on talk shows or doing stand up but I do really like most of his movies...more of a controlled environment for him I guess.
See, that "two hours I can't get back" thing even works for TV...I'm feeling that way now and I think I'm a little cranky too! Definitely sleepy time!

DAYS OF DECEMBER
Well, it's a new year and I'm FINALLY back in the Land of Blog! Happy New Year everyone and I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I can not believe I haven't posted anything in so long...yes, Holly, that was quite the migraine. LOL!!!
December was so busy and just flew by...I can't believe Christmas is over and it's 2007 already.
Some of my December highlights included:
My girlfriend Marlene's 40th birthday...welcome to the club Mo!!!
I have known Marlene (and her sister Marianne) forever. Unfortunately we weren't always such good friends...you know how it is when "the little sister" (2 years younger) is always trying to hang around. I can remember many hide and seek games Marianne and I would play with Marlene...never to look for her. I know, we were awful..but thankfully she doesn't seem to hold it against us! They are both fabulous individuals and I'm honoured to have known them and been part of their lives for so long.
To celebrate her 40th, Marlene had this great idea for her party. She wanted it to be a book themed party, so you were to let her know what your favourite book was and why and they put everyone's choices in a booklet. They also had copies of everyone's books there so that you could have a look at them. Well, you wouldn't believe the anxiety this request caused some people! I know one particular member of our scrapbooking group and myself never did get back to her with our choices. We were all worried our choices would be embarrassing or silly, hers was from her childhood and mine were childhood (Nancy Drew) or basically "fluff" (Maeve Binchy, Adriana Trigiani or Scrapbooking magazines). I haven't read anything of "substance" in ages, I barely make time to read at all anymore. I used to be a voracious reader and then when I went to college I basically stopped reading for pleasure, always feeling guilty that I should be reading textbooks and studying. Sadly, I never really got back into it.
Anyway, the books people chose covered a wide spectrum. There was everything from Sports Illustrated magazine to a book about spirituality and physics.
Here's a partial list of some of the favourites:
Rage of Angels by Sidney Sheldon
When God Winks by Squire Rushnell
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
The Cure for All Diseases by Hulda Clark
Interview with a Vampire by Ann Rice
A Man In Full by Tom Wolfe
To A Child, Love is Spelled Time by M. Anderson & L. Wubbels
Dropped Threads 1 by Carol Shields
The party was a great success, with book themed games and Name That Tune with songs from 1966. I had the kids with me so I only planned on staying an hour or so but I had such a good time I think it was after midnight before we left!
Marianne, me and the birthday girl
Far right is Sharon, a friend of theirs since their college days, who had me in stitches, and the handsome devil in front is their dear friend Craig who is always good for a laugh or two!
Emily and I went to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in Toronto. It exceeded all my expectations, the show was amazing and the costumes and backdrops were beautiful!
At one point the Rockettes were in the middle of this spectacular number, doing their famous kick line and Emily leans over to say something to me. I was expecting something about how beautiful they looked or how she would love to do that when she grows up but no, my little displaced farm girl says "mama, they look like a big combine when they do that!". Good grief...not what I was expecting but it sure made me chuckle!!
The Umbra Warehouse Sale in Toronto...what can I say, I thoroughly enjoyed myself (I LOVE a good sale right before Christmas!), got totally caught up in the excitement of all the deals...will definitely be going again...but NEVER again by myself! They had everything from curtain rods for $5, picture frames for $3, beautiful glass vases for $3, all sorts of bathroom accessories...it was unbelievable!!
Things I learned at my first Umbra sale:
1. Find the push carts they provide and put a very large cardboard box (also provided) on it for all your goodies...do NOT try to carry what you think will just be a "few" purchases.
2. Take several deep breaths when you go in...and join the chaos...hundreds of people picking through hundreds of boxes!
3. Take cash...you get an extra 5% off if you pay with cash.
4. Don't overlook the "Returns" boxes they have all along the aisles where you stand to wait to pay....many treasures can be found in these! These are the boxes where people leave stuff after they've stood in line so long, sorted their stuff and changed their minds. When I first stood in line to pay I had 10 frames (not all for me!) and by the time I got to the till (an hour later) I had 2 vases, 2 platters, and probably 20 frames!
5. DON'T GO ALONE! As I'm standing in line gathering all this extra stuff, carrying some and pushing some along the floor with my feet, I realized you can't take the carts outside (not that I was going to find one at that point anyway!) so I was somehow going to have to pack all this stuff in a huge cardboard box and drag it down the street to my van. This is where the extra person comes in handy...they stay with the stuff outside while you go and get your vehicle. It's also nice to have an extra person to start standing in line fairly early and you can take turns shopping while the other stands in line. Oh, the things I learned in a very short amount of time!
6. Probably the most important....tip the kind young man that sees you dragging your stuff down the street and offers to help you carry it to your vehicle...what a sweetheart!!!The ever-popular Christmas card photo shoot...first of all, this should be in my October highlights because that really is when I need to start this process so that I actually get the picture I want and then get my Christmas cards done BEFORE December 23! Second, this really isn't a "highlight" if you ask my kids what they think of it...they practically dread it now. It's become a painful process with me needing "just one more shot" and them soooo not wanting to participate anymore! This may be my last year for doing my own pictures...that's ok, I think I've run out of creative ideas for interesting pictures anyway. Two years ago I made big letters to spell NOEL and got them to hold them and took them in black and white and last year I did santa hats. If anyone has any other great ideas I'd love to hear them.
The one thing in December I was very excited about was the kids' Christmas concerts at school. Yes, two concerts, Jesse's was in the morning and Emily's at night. Actually Emily was also in the morning one singing with the choir. This was Jesse's first concert and he'd been practicing his songs every day at home...loud and proud! I was sure he would be the star of his class...yeah, I know, settle down stage mom! Then the day came and he wasn't feeling that well and he decided he really didn't want to go. Even telling him the grandparents were coming to watch didn't help but he finally got ready to go after much coaxing. Well, he came through, singing his little heart out, doing all the actions with each song and even doing a Jingle Bells dance...it was adorable!
Emily's concert in the evening was for Grades 2 and up. Her class did a song about different animals and what they each gave to Baby Jesus. She was a cat and she was so excited, she got to sing a solo in the song. She did a great job, I was so proud of her...a star is born! (oops, there's that stage mother thing again!)
Well, I certainly think this very long post makes up for the past few weeks. I'll have to finish December and the beginning of January tomorrow...I'm exhausted now!
