REIGN OVER ME

My girlfriends, Julie, Tracey, Daphne and I went and saw "Reign Over Me" last night. It was FABULOUS...probably one of the best dramas I'll see all year. I thought it was so touching and funny but also heartbreaking at times...Adam Sandler was fantastic in it and Don Cheadle, well, I always like him. Anyway, ladies I think you'll enjoy it (don't forget your kleenex!)...men, I'm not so sure..I'd love to find out your point of view about it. Is it just way too much "chick flick"? Let me know what you think!

A LOT OF FEMALE BONDING!

This is the end of what turned out to be a great weekend, definitely a "me time" weekend, and I spent it with so many different fabulous women!

Saturday I went to another one of the GoScrapping crops, an all day event, with lots of time for scrapbooking (if you're into that sort of thing...LOL!) and socializing! I tend to do more socializing...go figure! There was a group of nine of us that did an awful lot of chatting and laughing. I also had a chance to catch up with some old friends I hadn't seen in a long time as well as meet some new ones. All in all, a great day!

Today I went to a reunion for my Grade 8 class...for those of you that know me and are counting...yes, that was 29 years ago! A couple of girls from the class started arranging it and contacting people a few weeks ago. Oh, I should mention this reunion was for the females only! We're going to do this again next year and invite the guys then too.
I was surprised at how nervous I was...excited too but really nervous, no idea why! We went to a restaurant in Woodstock for brunch and before we knew it, 3 hours had flown by! It was so much fun! We got caught up on what everyone has been doing and of course, those old stories from "way back when" got told...some embarassing and some just plain hilarious!

I hope this post inspires you to call an old friend you haven't talked to in awhile...or before you know it all your good intentions to do so might turn into "29 years later"!!

A VERY LONG DAY...

I know it's Friday and that in itself is something to be thankful for but I have just a few small things I'd like to rant about, not really in any particular order...

1) Why the heck does my sidebar keep disappearing from my blog, this is the second time this week and then all of a sudden it just appears again! My blog is haunted!

2) I woke up with a migraine but on the upside I managed to get rid of it and come to work. What kind of an upside is that? Why didn't I just stay curled up in bed like I wanted to?

3) I started a post first thing this morning and accidentally clicked on something I shouldn't have and lost it! So now I'm trying again.

4) I still don't know what meme stands for.

5) Marianne, my music guru, hasn't done her list of songs yet. (In her defence I found out she's been on a little mini vacation the last few days...but she found the time to respond to my nagging email about it...tee hee!)

6) Our friend Jeff was over last night and informed me I don't have enough memory on my computer. He says "you need more, a lot more, you can never have enough!" (this was after a few too many Lucky Lagers!). I'm sure I do need more memory, especially when he keeps coming over and putting these space eating videos on my computer. (which I really must put on my blog in the near future!)

7) I saw some jerk throw a pop cup out his window in a parking lot today! I despise people that litter!

8) This post is totally boring!

Now for the rambling part...hence the title...rants AND rambles...
On a more positive note, I managed to go all day without hearing or reading about what happened on Grey's last night! I went to the Ranger game last night with my brother and a friend of his and I forgot to get Tim to tape Grey's and I was too tired to watch it at midnight. Actually I'm not sure he would have remembered to tape it anyway. I came home expecting to see Jeff (the Mac memory guy) and one other friend of ours but instead there were 8 guys playing pool in the basement, and half of them including Tim, were three sheets to the wind (or whatever that saying is)! He said when he saw them pull up and start to get out it was like those clown cars...one after the other kept filing out! I don't know how my kids managed to get any sleep with that bunch there but they were both sound asleep when I got home.

Hmmm...still boring..but they can't all be gems..there's always tomorrow!

I'VE BEEN TAGGED!

My friend and co-worker Susan has challenged me to come up with a list of the 7 songs that are my current favourites. This is apparently called a meme (ok, I'm not new to blogging but could someone please tell me what meme stands for, if anything!). This is my first time being tagged, probably for good reason, I'm always the person on those email lists that people put as "the person least likely to respond" but here it is, just for her! I'm even going to expand it to 10, no idea why, and in order of preference with 1 being the favourite.

1. Boston--Augustana (and not just because it's named after my absolute favourite city, I really like this one!)
2. How To Save A Life--The Fray (I STILL love this song)
3. Little Wonders--Rob Thomas (I just discovered as I was downloading that this is from the new movie Meet The Robinsons)
4. Here In Your Arms--HelloGoodbye
5. U & UR Hand--Pink
6. Ordinary Miracles--Sarah McLachlan
7. Sweet Escape--Gwen Stefani
8. The Party's Not Over--Tom Cochrane
9. Love You Lately--Daniel Powter
10. Chasing Cars--Snow Patrol (this is another one I don't think I'll ever get tired of)

Well, there you have it! Ok, more than half of them are slow and mellow...what has happened...where's the good ole' dance music of the 80's??? What kind of phase is this...and do NOT say I'm just getting older!! aaaaaggghhh!! I still enjoy almost any kind of music...except for jazz or rap...oh, and classical. Maybe I'll do a top ten country list tomorrow...bet you can't wait for that! LOL!!!

Anyway, I'm now tagging Holly, Marianne and Sheri to do a list. Anyone else that happens to read...please leave a list of your favourites too!

WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?

I can't believe it's been over 3 weeks since my last post. I've had plenty to say, as usual, but just could never seem to get around to it. I apologize to any loyal readers that I may have left. I hope everyone hasn't deserted me!
So what have I been up to? Well, let's see.....

One Saturday evening was EMILY'S FIRST COMMUNION. She was so excited and looked so pretty in her new dress! She was thrilled that my parents were able to come as well as Tom (my brother), Cindy and Aspen. Unfortunately my husband's parents were away on vacation at the time. We're going to have another special dinner with them and Emily's going to get all dressed up again! Actually it will be nice for her to get a chance to wear her dress more than just that one time.
After church, we all went to Emily's choice of restaurant, Swiss Chalet, and then back to our place for cake and ice cream.

The next weekend was the NOTTAWASAGA SCRAPBOOKING RETREAT...a great weekend with fabulous friends, food, and all the scrapbooking you could handle! I unfortunately, and not surprisingly, didn't accomplish much but it wasn't because of my usual distractions...too much talking and laughing...it was my damn migraines again! I tried to make the best of it but I felt like crap for most of the weekend. You'd never know it from this picture of Janet and I though...and remember...what happens at scrapbooking retreats, stays at scrapbooking retreats.....LOL!!!!!

We celebrated my Dad's 71st birthday and my nephew Brian's 12th birthday, both February 28. Actually Dad was born on the 29th so technically he doesn't get a birthday until next year...he'll be 18!

Emily finished her first season of winter indoor soccer. She didn't enjoy it as much as I thought she would...it was co-ed and some of the boys were a bit intimidating I think. She's very happy to be going back to all-girl soccer this spring.

I saw Wild Hogs with Tom and Cindy a couple Fridays ago...don't see it winning many awards but it was exactly what I expected...hilarious and entertaining! I hate reading bad reviews for movies like this that aren't meant to do anything more than entertain for 90 minutes. Yes, it was slow in some parts and very predictable but it was also just plain funny!
That same weekend I took Emily to see Bridge to Teribithia.
I wasn't going to take her because of the ending (which I won't ruin like I have for a couple people already..oops, sorry!). I wasn't sure how she would handle it but she really wanted to see it and a couple of her friends had seen it and of course told her everything that happened. She said she knew how it ended and that she was ok with that so we went. I'm not sorry I took her, it was a really good movie, but it's definitely more suited for older kids. And moms, take along some kleenex for yourself...that's all I'm going to say about it!!

Last weekend I took Jesse to the Rangers game. He's been before but it certainly seemed like the first time he had ever been. I was exhaaauusted by the end of the first period! He had asked every possible question imaginable! We were sitting right behind the net at one end so he asked about the net above the glass...why is that net there (so a puck doesn't come over the glass and hit us), it doesn't go right to the roof, what if a puck comes over (it won't, it's up very high), but what if it does (I'll catch it), but what if it goes down there, pointing 2 rows ahead (they'll catch it), why are they just standing there (they're waiting for the referee), who's the referee (the men with the black & white striped shirts), why are the lights on the side like that, who's that (the goal judge), what does he do (turns on the red light when a goal is scored), what's the green light for (I don't know)...and on and on and on. I bought him some popcorn before the second period thinking that would keep him quiet for awhile...didn't work..."look at the shapes in the popcorn mama, there's a ghost". He just cracks me up, the people around us thought it was pretty funny too! Then he had had enough part way through the third but I managed to get him to hang in there until the five minute mark.

Last week I spent more money on tickets for things than I spent probably the last two years combined! First, Marianne, my fabulous music guru...GOT US GENESIS TICKETS...15th row floors..centre stage!!!! This is exceptionally kind of her considering she's not a huge fan and it's costing us an arm and a leg...and of course we're making Marlene come along! Get this though, it's OUTSIDE on a Friday in September. For what we're paying, if it rains, Phil better damn well come and hold an umbrella over us!
We've never gotten tickets this good...I can't believe I'm going to be that close to Phil...soooo exciting!!! I know, I know, noone is getting this infatuation are they??
Then I got tickets to the "Go Diego Go" show for Jesse's birthday. It's in Toronto in May and I'm sure we'll be doing a countdown to the date soon enough!
Then my mother informs me she'd really like it if I could get Tim McGraw/Faith Hill tickets for her and her friend...and for me too of course since they want me to drive them! Then she informs me she told Emily about it who then also really wanted to go (my husband has created a country music fanatic!) and my brother wants two for him and Cindy. Somehow, I managed to get 8 tickets right at 10 am when they went on sale...yee haw, I can hardly wait! Ok, that's a tad sarcastic, I'm not a huge fan but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
My last ticket purchase was for the first Ranger playoff game this week...GO RANGERS!!! Don't get angry at me Ranger fans but I have a feeling there may not be too many playoff games to see this year.
That is it, I'm done, no more tickets for this chick...I'll have to get a part time job just to support this little habit!

This weekend I took Emily to the Ranger game Friday night (not nearly as many questions to answer!) and Saturday my mom and I took the kids to Disney On Ice. She's been promising to take them on a bus trip but since she fell a few weeks ago she didn't think she could manage it so I went along too and we all had a great time! Grandma spoiled them rotten, of course!! Isn't that what grandma's are for?
Saturday night I went to see Music and Lyrics. If you're a Hugh Grant fan you will LOVE this movie! It is sooooo good!!

Well, that's more than enough for one post, more like 10 posts in one!
Good night all!!
