WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?
I can't believe it's been over 3 weeks since my last post. I've had plenty to say, as usual, but just could never seem to get around to it. I apologize to any loyal readers that I may have left. I hope everyone hasn't deserted me!
So what have I been up to? Well, let's see.....One Saturday evening was EMILY'S FIRST COMMUNION. She was so excited and looked so pretty in her new dress! She was thrilled that my parents were able to come as well as Tom (my brother), Cindy and Aspen. Unfortunately my husband's parents were away on vacation at the time. We're going to have another special dinner with them and Emily's going to get all dressed up again! Actually it will be nice for her to get a chance to wear her dress more than just that one time.
After church, we all went to Emily's choice of restaurant, Swiss Chalet, and then back to our place for cake and ice cream. The next weekend was the NOTTAWASAGA SCRAPBOOKING RETREAT...a great weekend with fabulous friends, food, and all the scrapbooking you could handle! I unfortunately, and not surprisingly, didn't accomplish much but it wasn't because of my usual distractions...too much
talking and laughing...it was my damn migraines again! I tried to make the best of it but I felt like crap for most of the weekend. You'd never know it from this picture of Janet and I though...and remember...what happens at scrapbooking retreats, stays at scrapbooking retreats.....LOL!!!!!
We celebrated my Dad's 71st birthday and my nephew Brian's 12th birthday, both February 28. Actually Dad was born on the 29th so technically he doesn't get a birthday until next year...he'll be 18!
Emily finished her first season of winter indoor soccer. She didn't enjoy it as much as I thought she would...it was co-ed and some of the boys were a bit intimidating I think. She's very happy to be going back to all-girl soccer this spring.I saw Wild Hogs with Tom and Cindy a couple Fridays ago...don't see it winning many awards but it was exactly what I expected...hilarious and entertaining! I hate reading bad reviews for movies like this that aren't meant to do anything more than entertain for 90 minutes. Yes, it was slow in some parts and very predictable but it was also just plain funny!
That same weekend I took Emily to see Bridge to Teribithia.
I wasn't going to take her because of the ending (which I won't ruin like I have for a couple people already..oops, sorry!). I wasn't sure how she would handle it but she really wanted to see it and a couple of her friends had seen it and of course told her everything that happened. She said she knew how it ended and that she was ok with that so we went. I'm not sorry I took her, it was a really good movie, but it's definitely more suited for older kids. And moms, take along some kleenex for yourself...that's all I'm going to say about it!!
Last weekend I took Jesse to the Rangers game. He's been before but it certainly seemed like the first time he had ever been. I was exhaaauusted by the end of the first period! He had asked every possible question imaginable! We were sitting right behind the net at one end so he asked about the net above the glass...why is that net there (so a puck doesn't come over the glass and hit us), it doesn't go right to the roof, what if a puck comes over (it won't, it's up very high), but what if it does (I'll catch it), but what if it goes down there, pointing 2 rows ahead (they'll catch it), why are they just standing there (they're waiting for the referee), who's the referee (the men with the black & white striped shirts), why are the lights on the side like that, who's that (the goal judge), what does he do (turns on the red light when a goal is scored), what's the green light for (I don't know)...and on and on and on. I bought him some popcorn before the second period thinking that would keep him quiet for awhile...didn't work..."look at the shapes in the popcorn mama, there's a ghost". He just cracks me up, the people around us thought it was pretty funny too! Then he had had enough part way through the third but I managed to get him to hang in there until the five minute mark. Last week I spent more money on tickets for things than I spent probably the last two years combined! First, Marianne, my fabulous music guru...GOT US GENESIS TICKETS...15th row floors..centre stage!!!! This is exceptionally kind of her considering she's not a huge fan and it's costing us an arm and a leg...and of course we're making Marlene come along! Get this though, it's OUTSIDE on a Friday in September. For what we're paying, if it rains, Phil better damn well come and hold an umbrella over us!
We've never gotten tickets this good...I can't believe I'm going to be that close to Phil...soooo exciting!!! I know, I know, noone is getting this infatuation are they??
Then I got tickets to the "Go Diego Go" show for Jesse's birthday. It's in Toronto in May and I'm sure we'll be doing a countdown to the date soon enough!
Then my mother informs me she'd really like it if I could get Tim McGraw/Faith Hill tickets for her and her friend...and for me too of course since they want me to drive them! Then she informs me she told Emily about it who then also really wanted to go (my husband has created a country music fanatic!) and my brother wants two for him and Cindy. Somehow, I managed to get 8 tickets right at 10 am when they went on sale...yee haw, I can hardly wait! Ok, that's a tad sarcastic, I'm not a huge fan but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
My last ticket purchase was for the first Ranger playoff game this week...GO RANGERS!!! Don't get angry at me Ranger fans but I have a feeling there may not be too many playoff games to see this year.
That is it, I'm done, no more tickets for this chick...I'll have to get a part time job just to support this little habit!
This weekend I took Emily to the Ranger game Friday night (not nearly as many questions to answer!) and Saturday my mom and I took the kids to Disney On Ice. She's been promising to take them on a bus trip but since she fell a few weeks ago she didn't think she could manage it so I went along too and we all had a great time! Grandma spoiled them rotten, of course!! Isn't that what grandma's are for?
Saturday night I went to see Music and Lyrics. If you're a Hugh Grant fan you will LOVE this movie! It is sooooo good!!
Well, that's more than enough for one post, more like 10 posts in one!
Good night all!!

Welcome back! Emily looked so beautiful for her communion...and if you don't want to go see Faith and Tim, pass your tickets my way!
WHen you opened with "I can't believe it's been three weeks ..." I thought, "well I can, I've been checking every day!" So some of your loyal readers are still here. Great post. Loved the story about Jesse and the Rangers game. You and Emily both look fantastic! Open your mind a little (like we make Moe do so often) and you just might enjoy yourself at the Faith Hill/Tim McGraw concert! On second thought, I'll take my own advise for the Genesis concert. Anyway, glad you're back. Music and Lyrics - I was curious about that one - marianne
OMG -- I can just see the people around you cracking up at Jesse! What a hoot!
Bridget told me she was bawling when she saw Bridge to Terabithia. I still want to see it though! :)
First off I think you are wrong about the Rangers. They will advance past the first round and even past the second. I should have know a Boston fan really doesn't know how to cheer for a winning team. NOT ALL TEAMS EXIT THE PLAYOFFS EARLY !!!!!!! WOW... the amount of money you spent on ALL those tickets makes me wonder why you did not save it all and go out and buy a brand new copy of "BORAT" Just as much fun I am sure. Keep Smilin
Oh, c'mon anonymous..you can do better than that..Boston's not even going to MAKE the playoffs let alone get a chance to "exit early"! LOL!!
..and I think you're wrong about the Rangers..I do NOT think they will make it past the second round.
BORAT..you make funny..crack Judy up!!
