Last night I was cleaning out the kid's backpacks after school and in amongst Emily's stuff I find 3 valentine cards that she has made.
One is "To Jacob", from "your Secret Admirer" and says "Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Sugar is Sweet and so are you".
The second is "To Josh", from "your Secret Admirer" and says "if you want to find out who I am meet me at the tree tomorrow at middle recess".
The third says "I LOVE YOU" on the front and inside it says "meet me at your truck tomorrow, your secret admirer".
Meet me at your truck??? Are you kidding me, my daughter is SEVEN...what is going on????
Honestly, I'm just kidding, I really wasn't concerned...I knew there'd be a good explanation.
So I asked her, "Emily, do you have a boyfriend that drives?" I just started laughing, the look on her face was priceless, she had no idea what I meant so I told her what I found.
She gets this big grin and says "ohhhhh, that was for daddy!"
Then I asked her about the ones for Josh and Jacob and she laughs and says "oh, I was just pranking them!"

Then there's my son who decided not to bother handing out his Valentines last week...after he'd spent forever putting his name on them all. I couldn't believe it...there they were...still in the ziploc...still in his backpack!
When I asked him why he didn't hand them out, he didn't know. When I asked him what he did while all his friends were handing theirs out, he shrugged. When I asked him what he told his teacher when she wondered if he had valentines, he said he told her he didn't have any...he forgot they were in his backpack!
Now he wants to keep them..."my friends will want them next Valentines", he keeps telling me. I told him we probably wouldn't bother keeping those around for a year, that we'd get new ones so then he starts asking me:
Why, will they get old?
Will the writing go away?
If I hold one in the rain will the writing wash off?

Ok, is this a boy thing that nobody warned me about? Do you see now why I am going grey? LOL!!
