WEEKEND...WHAT WEEKEND?

Figured I better finish posting about last weekend or the next one will be here before I finish. I can't believe how quickly time is going by. That damn little blinking Christmas tree on my sidebar doesn't help either!

Anyway, back to my busy little weekend. Saturday my kids went to my Mom's for a sleepover so they could help her decorate her house and her Christmas tree. Once I got them all ready to go, my sister-in-law Cindy and I headed to Toronto for the day. We were originally just going to the Leafs game but I decided we should make a day of it and I would drag her to a couple of my favourite warehouse sales for some Christmas shopping.

First stop was Samko. I LOVE this place! I go at least once every holiday season (they're only open from September to December) and usually end up getting most of the stocking stuffers I need as well as quite a few of the gifts for all the kids I need to buy for. I wasn't sure if I would find much for my kids this year because they're starting to ask for more specific gifts. Samko has a lot of variety but a lot of the time it might be the toys that were popular a year ago. For example, they had items for Barbie, the 12 Dancing Princesses which was last year's big Barbie set. This year there was also a lot of Dora and Sponge Bob stuff.
I managed to get my niece's gifts and most of the stocking stuffers my mom wanted me to get for her for all the kids. The best for me though this year was the selection of books! I love buying my kids books, I know I go overboard. We have so many books in our house already but they love them so as far as I'm concerned they're worth every penny. This year's selection was much bigger than last year's. They had all sorts of chapter books that they don't normally have and they were only ONE DOLLAR EACH! I got Emily a bunch of Lizzie McGuire Mystery books. They also had Raven, Madison Finn, Secrets of Droon and many more. A lot of Christmas books I'd never seen as well as a lot of workbooks for various ages. I'd highly recommend this place for anyone with young children.

Next stop was the Umbra sale that I had so much fun at last year. It's a two day only sale and last year I went late in the afternoon on the Sunday. This year going Saturday afternoon was NOT such a good idea! I had told Cindy how great this was going to be. Was I ever wrong! It was completely picked over, practically empty. I didn't buy anything and she only bought one frame for $5. I couldn't believe it. The cashier said some people started lining up the night before. I don't know if people realize though, they replenish everything for Sunday morning again. Maybe that's why I had such good luck that afternoon last year. Oh well, live and learn for next year I guess.

Last stop, the Leafs game. I was very excited..the Leafs were playing my Bruins. Actually I didn't put much stock in my team winning but they managed to pull out a 2-1 win! Cindy sat there in her lovely pink and white Leafs shirt while I cheered for the Bruins all by myself...and I do mean by myself. I was definitely in the minority in our little section. I didn't care...especially since we were winning!

Besides the Bruins winning, another highlight was the fact we only spent $4 on parking...total...at both the Umbra sale and the hockey game! It should have been $11 at Umbra but this guy leaving sold us his ticket for $4 which we then decided to take our chances and use at the ACC parking lot as well which was charging $25. We looked in other people's vehicles and the tickets were almost identical and ours was good until midnight so we tried it. Luck was on our side...no parking ticket when we came out!

Oh, I almost forgot. On the way home we stopped at a Toys R Us that was open until midnight. I think I'm done shopping now...I MUST be done! (I'm not quite done yet..lol!)

Sunday morning since the kids weren't home and my husband went and played hockey first thing, I SLEPT UNTIL 11:00 AM! That was so...necessary! I was wiped!
The rest of the day was spent running around...picking up kids, taking Emily to soccer practice and Christmas shopping. My house is a disaster! Very little got done around here this weekend. Thank goodness the trees and decorations were put up the weekend before!

...and how was your weekend?
