Jesse turned 5 today...second time this week we're celebrating a birthday and again I find it so hard to believe how quickly the time has passed. I remember vividly the day he was born...all 9 pounds 5 ounces of him! He was such a happy baby and is still such a delight.

Some of my favourite things about him:
- His smile, laugh and sense of humour - nothing brightens my day more than him getting the biggest kick out of something and letting out a full belly laugh. I love the way he still puts his hands over his mouth sometimes when he's laughing really hard!
- His love of books - he loves to have stories read to him but he's also just as happy to sit by himself and look through book after book, especially ones with flaps. I hope that once he can read them on his own, he still has the same enthusiasm that he does now.
- His willingness to help - the daycare teachers are always telling me how helpful he is...he'll clean up different areas without even being asked. He's always been like that and is at home too. He loves to help tidy up or if my husband's working on something, he's right there with him, doing whatever he can. Of course he has his days where he's "tooooo ti-r-ed to cleeean uuup" (yes, extremely whiny!) but over all he's a terrific "cleaner-upper" (as he calls himself). He's also great at helping his friends. He recently met a little girl down the street and the first time she came in the house he held the door for her and helped her with her coat and hung it up for her...it was very sweet!
- His enthusiasm for learning - he loves to learn...anything...right now it's his address and the different coins and reading. You can tell how proud he is when he's learned something new. He's constantly telling me that when we're getting up in the morning, people in Australia are just going to bed! It's so funny..he's VERY serious when he's explaining different things.
- How animated he can be - when he's telling a story or talking about something that he's excited about, you can certainly tell...his arms are going and his facial expressions are priceless!

Music...singing...anything. He loves making up his own songs or singing along with...Daniel Powter...yes, he loves the Bad Day song!
Playing with Legos
Playing games
Jam sandwiches
Baked beans
Telling jokes - his favourite right now is "why didn't the skeleton cross the road?"..."because he didn't have any guts!"

He definitely keeps me hopping and as I said for Emily I can't wait to see what the future holds! I have a feeling we're in for quite the ride! Happy Birthday Jesse!
