A MOVIE AND A MADMAN
My friend Paula and I went to see Michael Clayton last weekend. I have to say I really do enjoy George Clooney, no matter what...even in this very...slow...movie. I can almost guarantee it will win awards, well, George should anyway. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad movie, not at all, but I would have been quite happy to just rent it sometime in the future.
Maybe the fact I didn't enjoy it all that much had something to do with the very friendly but distracting gentleman I ended up sitting beside. I don't have a problem with people going to movies by themselves but could they not then try to become best friends with their seat neighbours! One of the trailers we saw was for a movie coming out called The Bucket List. It's with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman and how they want to get things done from their "before I kick the bucket list". Well, my neighbour, between loud guffaws, informed me that he had crossed many things off his list, including skydiving, seeing the Great Wall, the pyramids...and on and on. "Wow", "really" I said, "fascinating" I lied...at the same time giving Paula the "next time I get the aisle seat and you can sit by the chatty man" look!
Wait, it gets better! They show the "turn off cell phones" message, he pulls his Blueberry out, and I THOUGHT he turned it off. But I think he just turned it to vibrate because part way into the movie it starts buzzing...not just once...he fiddles with it but 10 minutes later, same thing. Oh, and he commentates through the movie as well. The buzzing then becomes more like a ring, more fiddling and THEN I hear a voice calling him through the damn thing. FINALLY after about what seemed like a half hour, he got up and left...thank you kind sir (ok, "madman" in my title might have been a little strong)!
We also saw trailers for two chick flicks coming out later this year that look soooo good!
One is called 27 Dresses with Katherine Heigl. She's been a bridesmaid 27 times and now has to do it again but this time it's for her sister who's marrying a man that Katherine's character is secretly in love with.
The other is called P.S. I Love You. It's with Hillary Swank and I'm not going to tell you what it's about. I'm just going to say it looks amazing and I know I'm going to cry when I watch it!
Has anyone seen anything really good lately?
